• ART capital of India - Cochin E02

The best plan is to have no plan at all :0 When I re-visited Fort Cochin, I got fortunate that my visit time overlapped with an ongoing ART Exhibition "Binnale". It reminded me of my childhood days when I used to love drawing and painting. Also, the fact that as a kid I found the love of my life in the form of "Dance" which I pursue till today. This exhibition definitely inspired me to keep ART alive in my life. It not only acts as a stress buster but is a great companion as well. I feel everyone should practice an art form for a holistic life.

Cochin International Airport (IATA: COK, ICAO: VOCI) is an international airport situated in the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. Located at Nedumbassery, about 30 km (19 mi) northeast of Kochi, it is the busiest and largest airport in the state of Kerala. For the financial year 2014-15, Cochin airport is the fourth busiest airport in India in terms of international passenger traffic after Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai ferrying over 3,751,225 passengers and seventh busiest airport in India carrying 6,814,867 passengers.[3] The airport is a primary base for Air India Express operations and is a focus city for Air Asia India, Air India, IndiGo, Jet Airways and SpiceJet. Cochin International Airport is the first in India developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model and was funded by nearly 10,000 non-resident Indians from 30 countries.[4] On August 18, 2015, it became the world's first fully solar energy powered airport with the inauguration of the dedicated solar plant.[5][ The original proposal for the airport outlined an estimated cost of ₹100 crore (US$15 million) and an expected date of commission in 1997. Approval was granted in May 1993. The funding was envisaged to be from interest-free loans from non-resident Indians working abroad, donations from industrial undertakings, exporters, cooperative societies and loans from the state government. A body called the Cochin International Airport Society, under the chairmanship of the chief minister of Kerala, was registered in July 1993 to execute the project. To better fund mobilisation, as well as administrative convenience, a public limited company under the name Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) was registered in March 1994 with an authorised capital of ₹90 crore (US$13 million).[11] A total of 1,500 acres (610 hectares) of land was acquired for the construction of the airport.[12] Approximately 2,300 landowners and 872 families were resettled under a rehabilitation package.[13] Major electric lines and an irrigation canal had to be diverted. The facility was formally inaugurated by the then President of India, KR Narayanan on 25 May 1999, and the first commercial service began on 10 June 1999. The operations from the old naval airport were moved to CIAL on 1 July 1999.

Kochi vs Cochin Cochin is a popular tourist destination frequented by tourists from all parts of the world. It is a beautiful coastal city along the western coast of India that lies in the southern part of the country. However, tourists coming over to this port city in India are confused because they see the name of the city being pronounced as Cochi and not Cochin. To compound the mystery is a third name Ernakulum used for the city by the locals. This article attempts to find if there is any difference between Kochi and Cochin. Cochin Cochin, also called the Gateway to Kerala, is a coastal city along the south west coast of India that has been the entry point to India for all foreigners right from the Chinese and the Arabs to the Portuguese, Dutch and the British. The city carries cultural influences from all foreign powers with the development of the city credited mostly to the colonial times. Being a port city, Cochin has always been of strategic importance, and it is today one of the most important commercial centers of the state of Kerala. In fact, it would be better to refer it as the industrial capital of this southern state in India. The city not just has an international sea port but also an international airport connecting it to all important cities of the world. Kochi If you have chosen Kochi as your destination for a vacation, you might be surprised to arrive in the city and read the name of the airport as Cochin International Airport. Here, is nothing to be confused as Cochin, in fact, is the original name of the city given to it by the colonial powers, and this is why you see the name of the airport as Cochin and not Cochi. International tourists still call the coastal city as Cochin, but the state government has changed the name of the city to Kochi. Cochin aka Kochi was originally a small coastal city but because of its strategic location and commercial importance, it has grown into a very large city that spreads into Ernakulum district of the state. This is why natives also call it Ernakulum along with Kochi. What is the difference between Kochi and Cochin? • There is no difference between Cochin and Kochi and these are the two names of the same coastal city in the state of Kerala that is also referred to as Ernakulum. • Though still referred to as Cochin by most people in India and abroad, the name of the city has been changed to Kochi by the local administration.

One of my trip video where i captured the landing moment from a Jet Airways flight from Bengaluru International airport (India) to Cochin International airport (India). Bengaluru or Bangalore is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, located in the southern India on the Deccan Plateau. Bangalore is known as the Silicon valley of India because of it's role as the nations leading Information Technology (IT). I have enjoyed my one night stay at Bengaluru & should say that I have fallen in love with the climate of the state. I will definitely visit Bengaluru back some time in future. Kochi, also known as Cochin, is a major port city on the south west coast of India by the Laccadive Sea and is a part of the district of Ernakulam in the state of Kerala, India. Kochi is often called Ernakulam, which refers to the mainland part of the city. Known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi was an important spice trading centre on the west coast of India from the 14th century. Occupied by the Portuguese Empire in 1503, Kochi was the first of the European colonies in colonial India. It remained the main seat of Portuguese India until 1530, when Goa was chosen instead. The city was later occupied by the Dutch and the British, with the Kingdom of Cochin becoming a princely state. Kochi ranks first in the total number of international and domestic tourist arrivals in Kerala. Wonderful people, neat & clean environment, pollution free, greenery all around. Cheaper accommodation & food. Jet Airways is a major Indian airline based in Mumbai. It is the second largest airline in India, both in terms of market share and passengers carried, after IndiGo. It operates over 300 flights daily to 74 destinations worldwide. My entire round trip on Jet Airways was a pleasant experience. Their flights are always on time & had the best in-flight service at internationally & nationally at the best affordable price.
